Learn more about your Waverly emergency dentist. If there are two things you can count on during a dental emergency, it’s that they’re inconvenient, and they can be frightening and overwhelming. The first thing to do is to remain calm and don’t panic, the next thing to do is to contact your dental provider immediately. Dr. Timothy Vacek and his team at Amberly Dental are here for you, we proudly serve the communities of Waverly and Lincoln, NE and we’re well equipped to guide you through any emergency you may be facing. Here are some tips from your Waverly emergency dentist on how to handle dental emergencies.

A Tooth Broken or Dislodged

If your tooth has been chipped or broken, bring as many pieces of it as you can to Dr. Vacek as soon as possible. For a tooth that’s been dislodged or knocked out, time is of the essence. Transport the tooth carefully and quickly to Amberly Dental because your tooth has the best chance of being saved if we can treat it within 1-2 hours of injury. Try to replace the tooth in its socket if possible, or transport it gently in a cup of milk.

Soft Tissue Injuries

For injuries to your gums, cheeks, or lips, the first thing to do is to contain the bleeding. You can do this with a cold compress and light pressure. Warm salt-water rinses help soothe soft tissue injuries. Once the bleeding has stopped, contact our office for further instruction.

Abscessed or Infected Teeth

If you’re experiencing a toothache or sensitivity to hot and cold, your tooth may have an abscess or infection. It’s important to note that a dental infection will not go away on its own, in fact it will get worse and put you at risk for further infection and even tooth loss. So again, if you’re experiencing dental pain, it’s critical to contact us right away. Root canal therapy may be able to preserve your tooth if you’re proactive about getting care.

At Amberly Dental, we understand how stressful a dental emergency can be, however we want you to know that with the right team on your side, you have nothing to worry about. Dr. Vacek is gentle, caring, and highly skilled, so you can rest assured you’re in good hands when we take care of you. We make every effort to accommodate our emergency patients the same day that they call; so in an emergency situation, please contact us right away.
